The spring Voyagers after-school enrichment program will kick off the week of April 3 and will run for six sessions. Voyagers is a great way to supplement your child’s education with fun, interesting, and inspirational classes while raising money for the PTO. All classes begin right after school, and pick-up is at 3:40pm.

Classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration will begin on Sunday, March 12 at 5 pm. At that time, you will find a link at the top of this page that will take you to our registration page. If you try to sign up for a class and it is full, please follow the instructions to fill out a waitlist form.  Students may sign up for multiple classes. Registration will close on Thursday, March 16th at 3pm.  Please note - classes need a minimum of 7 participants to run, and may be cancelled if enrollment thresholds are not met.

Absentee policy
- If your child is not able to attend class on a given day ​please notify the office and send an email to Mikayla Pagnini at [email protected] prior to 2:00pm​ on the day of class.
-​ If an instructor is absent​, parents will be notified by telephone/email as soon as possible and students will be sent home at their normal dismissal time. ​If we are unable to reach you,​ the student will be in the school office until a parent can be reached. The class will be rescheduled based on a day that is convenient for the majority of students and the instructor.
- There are no make-­up days for student absences.
- Make up classes: If a class can not meet due to rain/weather, the instructor will be in touch to schedule a make up class.

Safety and pick up procedures - All students meet in the PRS gym after school for attendance and to be met by the class instructor. ­Pick-up for all classes is at the gym doors at 3:40pm sharp. Please provide a note to the instructor if your child is to walk home or be dismissed to someone other than a parent. Instructors will pass the notes along to the office.

BOARD GAME & LEGO CLUB
Mondays

All Grades

Board Game Club focuses on teaching children good sportsmanship and strategic thinking through a variety of board games. This session is designed for any play level and experience level. Children will play board games such as Monopoly, Trouble, Sorry, Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, Guess Who, and many more! We'll also do Lego challenges!

STOP MOTION ANIMATION
Mondays

$90 + $10 supplies fee
Grades 4-5

In groups, students will practice making stop motion videos, using toys, art materials, found object and other tools. We will gather inspiration from stop motion artists, and work on creating our own videos.

Instructor: Ms. Caldwell - I am PRS's Art Teacher, as well as a working artist. In my personal work I use cut paper, printmaking and digital tools to create art about storytelling, nature and more!

GYM TIME FAVORITES
Mondays

Grades 4-5

This class will incorporate some of the students’ favorite games from gym class… Capture the Flag, Star Wars, Parachute Games, and more! We will have a warm-up, game, and cool down! A fun time for all!

Instructor: Vin Moran-  PRS dad who has been a substitute teacher in Hingham and a softball coach for many years will get your kids moving!

MISS WRAGG'S ART CLASS
Mondays

Grade 5

In this class students will use the time to explore all different types of art sketching, painting, and creating. Miss Wragg's art class will be dedicated to relaxing and expressing ourselves through the beauty of art!

Instructor: Miss Wragg is a fifth grade teacher at PRS. When she isn't teaching , she is home painting, drawing and sketching. She has been teaching for 7 years and is excited to combine her two passions in one class! 

BECOME A GEMOLOGIST
Mondays

Grades 3-4

Students will study rocks and minerals and their properties through hands on experience.

Instructor: Mrs. Falvey is a grade 3 teacher at PRS.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!
Mondays

Grades K-2

Children will have the opportunity to perform in a variety of short skits from excerpts of popular stories. Students will use props and make simple costumes to enliven their roles. Part of the class will also be dedicated to theater improv games. Come join the fun!

Instructors: Linda Harned is a kindergarten paraprofessional at PRS. Ellen Sheil is a fifth grade paraprofessional at PRS.

SPORTS CLUB

CRAFTS GALORE & MORE
Tuesdays

Everyone is Creative in Crafts Galore And More! Students will make a craft each week. They will take it home unless it needs to dry first. Each child will receive their own supply bag . After they finish the craft, each week, they can choose to make a greeting card (to make someone smile) and/ or a unique book mark (s). Some of our spring crafts will include decorating your own baseball cap, tissue paper flowers in a vase , creating stamp pad characters on a flower pot, clay projects, spring wreaths and more! Hope you join us!

Instructor: Linda Harned - I am a K Para at PRS. I have been teaching Voyager’s classes for 4 years. (Crafts and Lights Camera Action) I also do the Breakfast Program. Students might also know me from After School tutoring and the Summer Academy. I have three grown kids and 5 granddaughters! I love working with kids!!!

POKEMON PALOOZA

Tired of hiding your Pokémon cards in your backpack? Then come join the Pokémon Club, where we chat about all things Pokémon, and trade cards with friends! Bring your Pokémon cards from home to trade. Instructor will provide new Pokémon cards for each student as well.

Instructor: Mrs. Sheil is a fifth grade paraeducator at PRS. When she's not teaching Voyagers classes, she can be found reading, attending musicals and plays, and walking on the beach.

ARCHERY
Wednesdays

Archery is an activity where students will use a bow and arrow to hit a target at a variety of distances. Archery helps improve hand eye coordination, self confidence, and upper body strength. This course will introduce students to the basic techniques of indoor and outdoor target archery emphasizing the care and use of equipment, range safety, stance and shooting techniques, scoring and competition. Each student will be instructed in: Basic equipment used for archery.

CHESS

Students will learn basic strategy and moves as they learn or sharpen their chess playing skills!

Instructor: Farzad Abdi is a National Master in chess and a member of the Boylston Club in Cambridge. He has taught in Hingham for many years through the Hingham Chess Club. 

SURPRISE ADVENTURES WITH MR. LAMOTHE
Wednesdays

During this Voyagers session Mr. Lamothe will be doing something different each week. It may be a nature walk in the trails behind the school, playing hide and seek in a couple of rooms in the school, reading a book to students or possibly even a scavenger hunt. This is a time for Mr. Lamothe to connect with students as well as students to connect with Mr. Lamothe.

Instructor: Mr. Lamothe is the Principal at PRS.

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION
Wednesdays

Grades 2-5

Students will start each class with some vocal warmups and theater improv scenes. In this class, there will be a final performance on the last day.

Instructors: Linda Harned is a kindergarten paraprofessional at PRS. Ellen Sheil is a fifth grade paraprofessional at PRS.

GARDEN AND NATURE CLUB
Wednesdays

Grades 1-5

We will plant spring seeds, stir the compost, dig in the dirt to find bugs and worms, repair garden boxes, as well as explore surrounding nature to see how other plants and animals connect to our gardens. There might even be some fresh veggies from YOUR school garden to nibble on along the way.

Instructors: Farmers of Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset, MA.

CREATIVE ROBOTICS

Take what we've learned in computer science class to the next level! Engage in weekly creative and technical challenges using a micro.bit that will lead to a big robot showdown at the end of 6 weeks. No prior experience needed. Whether you like to code, build or create, there is room for all skill levels!

Instructor: Mrs. Stahl-Bryant is the Computer Science teacher at PRS. Having recently taken a robotics class herself, she is eager to share some of the more complex robot creations she learned with you!

SKATEBOARDING

Can’t wait to break out your board? Come learn the basics, as well as advanced, skateboarding techniques with the riders from Technical Skate shop. In this class, we will be covering safety, cooperation and all the components of skateboarding. The classes will take place outside and Technical will be providing some of the skateboarding obstacles. Learn how to skateboard or sharpen your skill. **Participants must supply their own skateboard, helmet, elbow and kneepads.

Instructor: Bobby DePesa is owner of Technical Skate Shop in Norwell, MA.

CRAFTS GALORE AND MORE

PODCASTING
Fridays

Grades 3-5

Do you have a favorite podcast to listen to? In this program, learn what a podcast is and have the chance to go behind the scenes to make your own! You'll will work together to choose a topic, script each episode, record and produce a five episode podcast.

Instructor: Mrs. Stahl-Bryant is the Computer Science teacher at PRS. She listens to podcasts every day on her ride to and from work. 

NEWS CREW
Fridays

The PRS News Crew will report current school events to the student population through a variety of ways using audio and visual equipment.

Instructor: Assistant Principal Ms. Smith has taught News Crew for over 11 years and is coming back after a hiatus! She is proficient is the technology and photography and loves to introduce this to young students! In addition to Education degrees, she possesses a secondary degree in Communications with an emphasis on film and public speaking.
